Metro Detroiters gathered tonight at Campus Martius as the city flipped the switch on thousands of Christmas tree lights during the annual Holiday Party in the Park.

The event, scheduled to last until midnight, feature ice skating, carriage rides and music by gospel singer Marvin Winans Jr. and the Henry Ford Carolers.
The free event is billed as the official start to the holiday season and attracts hundreds downtown.
